The coverage of the Olympics is starting to annoy me.

In Greece,it's mostly about dopping and scandals and banned athletes and about how our remaining team sucks so far(well,it's true!).And then I go to the internetz to find some better reports, and it's all about Phelps,Phelps,Phelps,Phelps,Phelps,Phleps.
*sigh*
I understand that Michael Phelps is a wonderful athlete and what he is trying to do(aka winning 8 gold medals) is ambitious and phenomenal...and some emphasis on him is normal...but there are so many more great people participating in the Olympic games! All this Phelps obsession(also by fans, but mostly by the media) is getting tiring, and it's still day 6 of the games!
I don't know, mayby it's because I never loved the 'sweeping' kind of athletes.I always preferred the fighters-but-not-always-winners type.Plus, and coming from a country with a HUGE dopping problem,I may have gotten cynical...but nowadays I tend to be extra-suspicious with super-medalists and their (ab)normality.<strike>Or mayby I'm just bitter that swimmers don't wear speedos any more.
</strike>When the U.S. relay team won their magnificent gold medal a couple of days ago,I saw_to much surprise_that most headlines were something like "Phelps wins 2nd gold" ,ignoring that there were three more guys who fought for that medal and won it as well! There was a complete snub of the team-work by the media, and I got pretty irritated,I must say.The only good thing is that Phelps himself seems pretty down-to-earth and has the right attitude so far.
*sigh* Swimming has always been one of my favorite Olympic sports, but with all this media blast,I can't wait for it to be over.Sad,but true.

In other Olympic news,China has been lately highly criticized about the opening ceremony. It was a beautiful one and I enjoyed it very much...but things have come out which are not so flattering for the organizers:the impressive fireworks at the end of the ceremony turned out to be fake,so did the little girl who supposedly sang with her beautiful voice.

I'm not really bothered by the firework thing(although I understand why the press is whining about it),but the girl story made me angry. Why was it that they had to wipe away a cute girl with an angelic voice just because she wasn't completely perfectly looking??Personally, other than mayby not having perfect teeth,I saw nothing wrong or ugly with the appearance of the little one.And I found that desicion of the organizers to be rather racist.
I don't know,am I too harsh on them?

ETA:OMG.I just found out that the flame lighting in Barcelona(in 1992) was also a fake!An amateur video was shown in local news, two minutes ago, that showed the arrow passing over the bowl and going off the stadium while the flame lit.
Frak, this was my favorite Olympic lighting!Kind of dissappointing...but still impressive.

ETA2:Basketball match between U.S.A. dream-team and Greece has just started.Since the chances of our getting trashed are about 65,38%,should I bother watching??
